Candlelight Ranch Interns need to be willing to work outdoors in the heat, have a positive and flexible attitude and have a desire to work with children and at-risk youth.

Candlelight Ranch delivers creative, hands-on educational programs and nature-based activities in a beautiful Texas hill country setting.

Cool Job of the Week Candlelight Ranch is seeking Summer Interns who will learn how to facilitate educational, recreational, and therapeutic nature-based group programs while interacting with a wide range of at-risk youth and children with special needs. With appropriate training and supervision, Interns will participate in and facilitate the low/high challenge course, waterfront and equine program, archery, nature hikes, nature art, and nature therapy & education. Compensation includes a stipend, staff cabin shared with a total of 5 interns (includes bed, full bath, full kitchen, and laundry room), and healthy homemade lunch and snack 4 days/week. If you love exploring in nature, enjoy working with kids, understand the therapeutic benefits of nature, and have a positive and flexible attitude, email a cover letter and resume to Adrian Dearmond.

Interns will be required to attend a 4-day training from May 28th–31st and be available for a minimum of 4 days/per week from 8:30am–4:30pm during the summer camp term from June 6th–August 2nd. There may be some weekend, evening and overnight work, and there is a week break from camp during the 4th of July.

Cool Job of the Week With a summer staff of 25 in charge of working with just 42 at-risk boys (10-18 years of age) during each of two summer sessions, you’ll be an integral part of a uniquely supportive and cohesive community on a 50-acre island in New Hampshire. Mayhew boys all come from disadvantaged backgrounds (low-income, single-parent homes) and participate tuition-free. Summer staff will help promote the development of improved self-esteem and behavior, healthier peer interactions, goal setting skills and a strong sense of belonging for the boys. While the work can be fatiguing and emotionally draining, the positive and meaningful experience created at Mayhew is rich beyond measure. Tangible benefits include compensation of $4,500 plus a $1,000 summer completion bonus, room & board, and lots of great home cooking served family-style.

Imagine waking up each morning in the woods, beside a lake, or on a historic farm to spend the day building climate resiliency or helping Vermonter’s access farm-fresh food. Whether you want to try outdoor work for the first time or if you are focused on a career path in natural resources or agriculture, there is a VYCC crew for you! Compensation ranges from a bi-weekly stipend of $962-$1,500 and potential eligibility for an AmeriCorps education award. There are many other great benefits (depending on position) that include CPR/first aid certification, technical skills training, food per diem while on projects, professional level certifications, resume building, federal hiring training, and so much more. Positions are available from March through October with varied start/end dates.

Cool Job of the Week Located in the high plains desert in southwest Idaho, BlueFire Wilderness Therapy offers an unprecedented treatment approach that incorporates an ideal blend of wilderness expeditions, high adventure activities, equine interaction, individual and group therapy, academic work, service projects and family connections — all designed to deliver treatment opportunities and life skills attainment. Now seeking Field Instructors who will lead groups in multi-day hiking expeditions and outings that combine an academic curriculum, primitive living and outdoor skills, volunteer work and adventure. Compensation includes a competitive wage of $160-$243/day, full benefits, regular work-related trainings and professional development opportunities, BlueFire swag and pro deals. A 2-week on, 2-week off schedule allows for travel, adventure and fun on your time off. A one-year commitment is preferred; seasonal positions are also available.
