Adventure Activities

MARINE CONSERVATION PROJECTS

Marine Conservation ProjectsIn the Bahamas, participants are working with the Bahamas National Trust to create marine parks and no take zones to ensure future generations will care for the reef and its long-term survival. Working in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society, Greenforce Fiji volunteers are surveying the reefs surrounding this remote South Pacific island and helping to create a UNESCO Seascape multi-use reserve. PADI Open Water dive training and science training are undertaken before marine research starts. Underwater marine surveys involve charting the coral with the use of GPS, identifying fish and marine movements, and locating breeding and feeding grounds. By project's end you will achieve PADI Advanced Open Water qualification. (4-10 weeks)
