NANA Services, LLC provides food and janitorial services, recreational management, commissary operations and other services that bring some of the comforts of home to remote sites throughout the world.

Experience Antarctica! NANA Services LLC offers that once in a lifetime adventure that will allow you to incorporate your employment history with travel's most unknown destination: the last continent!

As a subcontractor to the Raytheon Polar Services Company, NANA Services does all the hiring for Antarctica Station Services positions in the Food and Dining, Housing and Custodial, Recreation, Beverage, and Retail Departments. McMurdo is the largest station on the continent and is the size of a small college campus with over ninety buildings. There are far more opportunities for outdoor recreation and it has a population nearly four times the size of the Pole. Many people consider the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station the most exotic place, because it sits at the Earth's axis. It is also located in the midst of the highest, driest, and coldest desert on the planet. It is 840 miles inland from McMurdo and houses 250 scientists and support contractors during the summer, and only 50 total in winter.

Time Commitment

The majority of contract positions are located at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and they generally begin in mid-September or early October and run through the following February. A smaller number of people will work at the South Pole. Employment start and end dates are approximate because schedules depend solely on the Antarctic weather conditions and flight controls. Each contractor will work a minimum of 54 hours every week and normally receive one day off per week.

Perks & Rewards

The compensation package includes all travel expenses from the USA to Antarctica and back to your point of origin, a weekly wage, food, housing, utilities, Internet, laundry, recreation, the possibility of a season-ending completion performance bonus, health insurance (with a choice of two plans), and a $50,000 life insurance policy while employed. Wages are based on a per-week individual contract agreement with the hiring manager and are paid by direct deposit every other week.

Dorm rooms are normally shared with a minimum of one roommate and many rooms require three roommates. There are no single rooms and double rooms are based on the current housing system. Separate bathrooms for men and for women are shared by a number of dorm rooms per dormitory floor. While effort is made to provide couples with double rooms, there is no guarantee it will happen.

There are also many activities available at each station, both indoors and outside. You may want to attend lectures given by the station scientists, visit the gyms, or checkout DVDs from the store to watch movies with friends. Hiking, climbing, cross-country skiing, or visiting the ice caves or Kiwi Station, located just a few miles away.
