As a Field Instructor for The Road Less Traveled, you'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge and love of the wilderness, service learning and cultural awareness with bright and enthusiastic young people; work with other highly motivated, qualified, committed professionals; and experience extraordinary lands and cultures around the world. RLT Instructors are genuine, spirited, friendly, active, educated and well traveled. They are not just educators and counselors, they are mentors. Broadreach offers 70+ summer adventure programs in 40+ countries throughout Central and South America, Europe, South Africa and Canada.
Each summer a unique team of highly qualified Wilderness Instructors is formed who lead, teach, role model, care for, inspire, and educate small groups of middle school, high school, and college aged students in places all over the world. Each Broadreach program has its own blend of discoveries and challenges, designed to take advantage of the unique character and opportunities of the region, while focusing on individual success and group dynamics. With programs led by a team of two Instructors, Leader responsibilities include facilitating positive group dynamics, participating in community service activities, assisting with the course curriculum, and leading games, outdoor and adventure activities, from surfing, snorkeling and kayaking to hiking, rafting and rock climbing. Applicants must have experience leading and facilitating groups in wilderness environments, solid experience leading activities offered on the course, conversational Spanish skills, WFR certification, and able to attend staff training in Raleigh, North Carolina from June 2-10, 2017.
