Orleans (Lower Ninth
Ward)
As the only grassroots rebuild organization working
exclusively in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans,
lowernine.org has begun an urban farming program
making use of abandoned lots in the neighborhood,
all of whose homes were damaged or destroyed by
hurricane Katrina. Paid interns are
responsible for all aspects of this community
gardening/urban farming pilot project—get
involved and make a difference.
