Emergency Response Team Corps Members
AmeriCorps St. Louis ERT has deployed nationwide to respond to disaster-affected communities and performs conservation work at various state parks, conservation areas and national forests throughout Missouri, southern Illinois and with the U.S. Forest Service in southwestern Montana.
Spend a year assisting disaster-affected communities, fighting wildfires and conserving natural resources with a team of 30 other young adults! The AmeriCorps St. Louis Emergency Response Team is a multi-functional rapid deployment group that has been called out nationally to floods, tornadoes, wildfires, hurricanes, search and rescue, ice storms, and terrorist attacks for over two decades. On any given day, ERT Corps Members might be providing immediate and long-term relief in areas affected by natural disasters; restoring Missouri forests, river ways and recreation areas; building and maintaining trails, bridges and cave gates; fighting wildland fires or participating in prescribed burns; or conducting disaster response and preparedness trainings for communities and other national service organizations. All Members receive an intensive orientation, including an introduction to disaster services, chainsaw and other power equipment operations, supporting people in crisis, risk management approaches, Incident Command System, emergency communications, team building and leadership skills, basic emergency medical care, and a variety of other specialized trainings and certifications.
