Farm Interns

Located on 50 acres in the beautiful rolling farmland of Sergeantsville, New Jersey

Sandbrook Meadow Farm is committed to preserving the integrity of the land and the joys of farm community through responsible organic farming practices. Farm Interns are a key element of the farm and can expect to contribute and learn skills in greenhouse management, field production methods, harvesting and distribution. The Farm values a cooperative relationship and are committed to making the internship an educational experience as well as a working one. Housing and a $1,000/month stipend are provided as compensation. Interns are also welcome to enjoy produce from the farm and are encouraged to can, freeze, and dry food as it becomes available. Positions run from April 15th or May 1st through August or October 31st, 2018. The weekly commitment is generally Monday-Friday, 8-5 but that can vary depending on seasonal demands. With a 460-acre campus that backs up to the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area and walking distance to the Appalachian Trail, the YMCA Camp Mason Outdoor Center hosts more than 10,000 people annually for outdoor education, conference, retreat, group-building, and family camp programs. The camps is about 1½ hours to New York City and 2 hours from Philadelphia.

YMCA Job ListingOutdoor Education Naturalists will plan and teach outdoor education and adventure classes to school and youth groups of students 10 to 14 years old with a curriculum that includes high & low ropes, rock climbing & rappelling, canoeing, lifeguarding, forest ecology, pioneer skills, fishing, nature crafts, maps, archery, riflery, hiking & backpacking, cross-country skiing & snow shoeing, Native American lifestyles, plant and animal identification, and the sciences. Duties also include leading night hike programs and boat trips, helping maintain key hiking trails, and assisting with curriculum development and special programs. Positions are available for the spring season (March 11th–June 17th), with the option for continued employment through the summer and fall seasons for exceptional staff. The Appalachian Mountain Club operates from Maine to Pennsylvania with offices or facilities in the following locations: Maine (Acadia National Park and 70,000 acres in central Maine just east of Greenville), Massachusetts (Boston, Northampton and South Egremont), New Hampshire (Alexandria, Chatham, Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountain National Forest), New Jersey (Delaware Water Gap), New York (Harriman State Park and NYC), and Pennsylvania (Bethlehem).

Program in the Spotlight If you are passionate about the outdoors and looking for a supportive and fun culture, AMC offers a range of rewarding employment opportunities in terrific locations throughout the Northeast! Seasonal employment, summer jobs and internships are broken into four categories: Lodge & Hut Crews (Help serve food, prepare facilities, and offer trail information to outdoor enthusiasts who visit AMC outdoor lodges throughout the year), Trail Crews (AMC is responsible for over 1,800 miles of trails throughout the Northeast and they need your help to maintain them), Outdoor Education Team (Serve as an Educator, Guide or Naturalist for various environmental educational programming), and Support Staff (During the high season, thousands of guests pass through AMC facilities, hundreds of staff who need supplies, and dozens of buildings that need maintenance). Positions are available year-round and seasonally.
