Allen Marine Tours hires a dedicated seasonal team who coordinate every detail on the shore to engaging guests in an Alaska adventure of a lifetime!
Allen Marine Tours operates custom-built vessels from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Tracy Arm Fjord Wilderness Area, and Hubbard Glacier. Each tour explores the scenic Inside Passage, showcasing whales, glaciers, and rainforest coastlines — while sharing the rich history and cultures of the region.
Allen Marine's fleet includes more than 30 vessels, each custom-built at its Sitka shipyard reflecting decades of Alaska marine design expertise. Most are high-performance, waterjet-powered catamarans valued for their speed, smooth ride, and precise handling in Southeast Alaska's rugged waters.
At Allen Marine Tours, our people are the backbone of everything we do. From the skilled craftsmen in our Sitka shipyard who built and maintain our fleet, to the dedicated shoreside teams who coordinate and support every detail, to the knowledgeable crew you meet onboard — each plays an intricate role.
What You'll Be Doing
Never work a boring summer job again! Work in Alaska. Encounter wildlife. Have the experience of a lifetime. Join Allen Marine Tours this summer!
Allen Marine Tours is seeking seasonal staff to fill roles in Marine Operations (Captains, Deckhands, Naturalists & Guest Services), Port Operations (Dock Representatives and Shuttle & Supply Representatives) and Food & Beverage (Sous Chefs and Catering Crew). Applicants must be available to work a seasonal schedule from April through September (although some positions may run into early October).
Marine Operations Captains The DIB Captain is responsible for the safe navigation, operation, and passenger management of an assigned high-performance inflatable or dive vessel. This role requires an experienced operator who can handle small, highly maneuverable crafts in varied weather, tidal, and sea conditions. The Captain is responsible for the safe and effective operation of an assigned passenger vessel and supervision of assigned crew. The Captain exercises operational command of the vessel and crew during tour operations and is responsible for safe navigation, passenger and crew safety, tour execution, regulatory compliance, vessel readiness, and overall guest experience quality.
Deckhands Under the Captain's direction, the Deckhand Lead and Deckhands help ensure the safe operation of the vessel and the well-being of passengers and crew. They perform daily operational, maintenance, and safety tasks; monitor vital systems; troubleshoot mechanical issues; and complete routine maintenance. As key representatives of the company, they also provide premium passenger service, conduct safety orientations, and keep the vessel clean, welcoming, and safe at all times.
Naturalists The Naturalist's primary responsibility is to support the Captain in ensuring the safe operation of the vessel and the safety of all passengers and crew. Duties include assigned passenger-safety and emergency-response tasks, safety briefings, assistance with boarding and disembarking, and line handling within the scope of the Naturalist's training and authorization. Once safety and operational needs are met, the Naturalist delivers engaging interpretation of Southeast Alaska's human and natural history, flora, fauna, glaciology, and climate, while also assisting with vessel cleanliness, retail, and food service. At the direction of the Port Operations Team, Lead Naturalists also provide pre-season and ongoing role-specific training to Naturalists in the port of hire.
Guest Services Guest Services staff assist passengers by answering questions and addressing specific requests. Responsibilities also include operating the galley and gift shop, including food preparation, beverage and snack service, retail displays, and sales of local products. Guest Services Leads also provide pre-season and ongoing role-specific training to other team members.
Port Operations Dock Representatives The Dock Representative coordinates with cruise line shore excursion staff, motor coach dispatchers, driver-guides, vessel crews, and other dock personnel to ensure tours arrive and depart on schedule while meeting Allen Marine and cruise line standards for quality and customer service.
Shuttle & Supply Representatives The Shuttle & Supply Representative receives shipments, organizes and stores supplies, distributes products to the appropriate vessels, and drives company shuttles.
Food & Beverage Sous Chefs Allen Marine's goal is to serve high-quality, locally sourced meals in an impeccably clean environment, creating a five-star experience for every guest. Under the Executive Chef's direction, the Sous Chef oversees food transportation, inventory, safety, and sanitation.
Catering Crew The catering team creates distinctive dining experiences with fresh Alaska-sourced seafood, game meats, and locally grown vegetables. Service is provided aboard tour vessels and at remote island lodges throughout Southeast Alaska. Each day, Catering Crew Members gather inventory and supplies, complete prep work at the dock or lodge as needed, and travel to and from the island by vessel. Food is prepared, plated, and loaded onto rolling racks for efficient vessel service. At the lodge, the team presents an appealing buffet of Alaskan dishes with flowers and decorative accents. Each crew member follows assigned recipes at a designated workstation and helps clean, stock, and maintain the facility. The Lead Catering Crew Member also handles additional setup and preparation duties.
